This will be an attempt at severance from my bitterly scornful approach to explaining life as I know it. Enlightenment will be the theme of this entry, although its not a directional motivator, its just the topic…dont get your hopes up…whoever you are.

Knowledge itself has the capability to be a very powerful self-inflicting tool. In a universe of many truths, if you set out on your own, your journey will always result in a discovery of exponential proportions to what you already believed, or wanted to believe. Its almost impossible to self-prove a personal belief completely wrong. What’s known by millions as “the greatest secret” isn’t actually a secret at all. If you believe something, it’s true, whether it’s true or not. Illogical yeah, but because a belief cannot be changed, only a thought can, you see? (Its some quantum shit.) What disheartens me though, is the fact that belief systems are pre-established (as covered in the last entry….and all of psychology for argument sake). And I can see a reader…whoever you are…thinking, ‘well, that’s your belief, Russell’…and so continues the irony. Is “the greatest secret” simply a preconditioned belief system selective to a specific group lucky enough to have had the right upbringing in youth, or is it actually a grip hole in the quantum fabric of our repetitive behaviors? Would a psychologist say, “this is a paradox”?

Lets think about it. Although we know that a person’s personality is a result of the exposure to an interweaving of secular influences in childhood, for the sake of speculation; setting aside worship/religion, education, social and political beliefs and focusing on strictly personal outlook or consciousness: if the preconditioning during childrearing developed a Pessimist, could he/she use what is known as “the greatest secret” to become an optimist? The logical answer would have to be no. Because by deduction, this ‘secret’ is simply reduced to a tool of which’s utility is the harnessing and focusing of an inner belief. And if an inner belief is negative, hope would wish for positive, but logic would contend negativities resilience. In other words, if you are inherently a pessimist, hope would pretty much be out of the question, let alone hoping for hope its’ goddamn-self. Now if the secret dictated that, in fact, harnessing desire overcomes belief, there might be some validity to that model, and I am a babbling fool—and there might be a good chance of that. The only other exemption would have to be a quantum level or devine intervention…..aaaand now were back to a conflict of pre established belief systems with no evidential significance (insert shout-out to the ‘flying spagetti monster here).

As pessimistic as the result seems, on the optimistic side, the elements I left out (social, educational, political, etc.) are of significance. Because of so, I can subscribe to allowance of room for hope. But only conditionally—and very specifically-conditionally, for that matter.

Less scornful and bitter? Not really? Oh well, good lookin’ out: keeps it real. Let me hear from you if you have something interesting.

I would like to preface this segment by apologizing for a somewhat sardonic tone which mirrored my mood. Maybe I should clean it up, if so let me know.

In a colloquial tour of my objective interpretation over the last decade I can only come to this: patterns define us. All of morally, socially, consciously and unconsciously, we are a predictable race. Very little of who we are is unique, despite how non intrinsic we believe ourselves to be. The feeling that our complications, ‘’quirks’’, abnormalities, and anything else we believe to be of unique inception is simply a delusion in which we operate under as a result of lethargic or lack of interest in perusing the specific so called unique qualities’ root. (Lethargic? Maybe sometimes, then again, who would want to pursue such a dismal topic?) Because all of our ‘quirks’ have a root, all of our mannerisms have a reason; and because they are developed, unfortunately for the so-called ‘faith’ and ‘hope’ in celebration of our ‘individualities’, they are…well, NOT.

Our behavioral patterns are reoccurring manifestations of behavior learned in our developmental phase of life. In order to skip the mundane and elaborate description of what our ‘developmental phase’ in life IS, I will leave it at: the period in which your brain is growing and developing (from child rearing phase to about 16 give or take). After this allotted period, your personality is established—from there, it’s all a sport of details in pattern predictability. Logically, if a reoccurring behavior has a root, its manifestation in the present isn’t as unique as we believe it to be, despite how bad that might feel as a person with a sense of self-respect. To briefly conclude here and segue into the next section, lots of people like to pat themselves and each other on the back and say that they are ‘unique’ individuals who make ‘choices’ using ‘logical ration’ with ‘unbiased’ thought processing, and I am saying that, um NO YOUR NOT. And have a nice day.

(Religion, Noun; beliefs & Worship. System. Personal beliefs or values). It is rather clear that in this life, among the complicated layers of historical development, we have segregated ourselves through various reoccurring schisms into secular belief systems—of which, no matter the influence, cannot be rewoven. And it is here that we find the subsequent irony of religion (Personal beliefs or values). Let me explain.

Setting aside the obvious reasons for religions conception & origin for another time, religions do a few things predictably. Starting chronologically and moving to emotional retention—one of the first things we see is elder imposing beliefs and values to a younger, which is a natural human behavior. However, in correlation to unbiased thought, with out directly pointing out the obvious fallacy here myself, simply ask the question, what background does a ‘tabla rasa’ of youth, so to speak, possess to counteract theory intellectually, let alone think for themselves? And more importantly, what kind of effect does ANY information have on a newly developing mind? Thus begins the first predictable pattern associated with a persons belief system, which will later in life surface to an aggressive defense mechanism (how this manifests itself in a behavioral sense is irrelevant in this case as it relates to personality associated with social development, among many other factors). And so the major misconception is the validity of conviction or so called ‘faith’ of practitioners of religions’ inner circles—for, without the ability to detach both physically and emotionally from his/her core beliefs (which developed with their personality in youth), the element of objectivity cannot exist, and therefore his/her faith is only one of forced imposition, rather than discovery. Moreover, the authority and significance of his or her defensive opinion/stance is nullified. Obviously, in defense of my own seemingly obvious casuistry, I would like to clarify that there are many exceptions to this developmental pattern, such as level of developmental influence, any type of familial conflict or tear in emotional fabric, and/or many more. Regardless, to simplify the broad spectrum of belief, if a person was positively affected by a religion growing up, they are subsequently excluded from the capability of emotional objectivity. That being understood, despite the exceptions (which represent a fractional minority to this development), I can conclude with the paradox of religion. The walls that separate and mark the clash of our various religions don’t exist out of rational conflict in root beliefs; they exist because the people who maintain, and continue the growth of the walls only do so because they don’t have the mental and/or emotional capability not to.

The most famous misconception related to this is the “I have an open mind and a warm heart” belief. People at this point, first of all, believe this concept because it is difficult to root against your own existence and family included, but also because they have rarely, if ever thought about the concept of personality crystallization in youth. The other misconception here is the person who admits to his or her own stubbornness in acceptance to other religions (keeping in mind this is a person of pre-established belief)—and the fault here is the same as the prior. This person has given minimal if any thought to the reality that he or she actually has virtually no control over his or her pre-established, thus, crystallized belief system due to the level of submerged influence at the age of a developing brain.

This construct holds as a general mold for many fields (politics, social behavior, language, etc.) And so left or right winged, atheist or spiritually enlightened, home schooled or juvi-hall-risen, as different as we think we are, the extremes of our sects all have one thing in common, the inherited, inherent inability to change.

When’s it all gonna end? I find myself obsessing with the idea almost daily these years. From scientific probability, to the romantic scriptures of religious so-called foresight—I wrap myself in the possibility and chase it with an almost fantasizing ambition. Why though? Am I a masochist to dream of a proverbial six billion person “spring cleaning”? It’s a fairly easy question to answer when I understand that it is in human nature to marvel at the same conceptualization. History teaches a repetition of the fantasy. In a world unbalanced, who’s human product has only been self-degradation, destruction, and greed, suicide would be the uncontrollable objective desire of any conscious being aware of a universal right and wrong. Lack of harmony produces radical shifts in counteracting tides in an effort to correct itself, and find balance. This is a universal truth.

Show me the world at it’s bare conception and let me earn this harmony I know in my heart exists. Our fantasies are not for a better tomorrow, because so few know what that is. Our fantasies are for the radically different tomorrow. Our insecurities, our vendettas, our repressed uncontrollable issues which developed out of awareness of inequality long for their dissolution. People divide themselves in this world based on these inequalities and develop their own interpretation of how to counteract the imbalance that controls them. We all work for the same goal—equality—but we are too hypnotized by our own method for accomplishing it. Our problems never reach the true height of objectivity, because we are only products of the environment that developed us, and very rarely can we see past those walls. So we romanticize. And if delusional and convicted enough, we kill each other in an effort to wipe clean the slate of imbalance; but history teaches the fallacy here—the greater fist doesn’t connotate the formentioned harmony; often times it seems just the opposite—a tidal repercussion in opposition to the motive of the annhialated. Simply a swing, some call it. I call it a cycle.

Everybody believes he or she could be living in the end of times. And the answer is this: people WANT a catastrophe. Is it so crazy to think that someone could yearn to be stripped of his or her personal responsibilities? Debts and wagers, stresses of job life, family, titles and earnings everything out the door. The dream, if it ever existed in the first place, slips away on a daily basis, and everyone is ok with it because they were taught that this is how it is. This is life. There is no actual existence outside of our own tiny sphere of influence, unless we travel to it.

Super volcanoes? Wrathful Jesus with a sword on a flying pony shooting lasers out of his orifices? It doesn’t really matter. Its not the death, it’s the life after that intrigues us—whether we die and transition into the unknown, or survive and rebuilt the world after, it’s the radical change from the repetitive and uncontrollable existence we trudge through on a daily basis that peaks our curiosity. We are a self aware copulating breed of this earths strangest form of bacteria. Intellectual to the extent of the divisions our race has created. But it’s the little idiosyncrasies that hold us together long enough to continue our strife of self-destruction. I WILL NOT call it a juxtaposition, it is only ironic that we kill each other for the love of one another as a whole. In all my observances, I can find no whole. I see no commune. And I see no unification of peace, because our nature is unbalanced. Our nature is to counter a belief system of another, which is trying to reach the same goal. As humans, we don’t understand, so we segregate—just enough to see what the opposition does objectively, and the opposition reciprocates.

And so I continue to anticipate our end and jump headfirst into the vulnerable cesspool of incessant mouth-breathers alike me. Dumbfounded and pointing a finger at a mirror.
